My Dog is Lost! What Should I Do Now…
 by: Moses Chia

Your dog is lost. You are worried and clueless on how to get started to bring your lost dog home. Follow these tips here and I’m sure it will increase your chances of finding your lost dog.

1. Make sure that your dog is actually lost - Search your house and back yard completely first. Your dog might just be too distracted by his new found toy in the yard.

2. Search around your neighborhood. Most dogs don’t usually wander off far from their house.

3. Use your voice - Call out his name when finding your lost dog. It is a more useful searching tool than your eyes. Dogs can hear a lot better than we do and the distance from which dogs can hear things is four times further than man.

4. Ask around during the search - Talk to people especially people walking their dog, because they are the group to be most concern and take notice with a wandering dog.

Dog Grooming - Maintaining A Posh Pup
 by: Paolo Basauri

Dog grooming is not simply an aesthetic bonus for our canine friends. Maintaining a regular grooming schedule will help to keep your dog both happy and healthy. Routine dog grooming will ensure that your dog is free of parasites, has healthy skin and a shiny coat, and has good dental health. Of course, the aesthetic benefits are also a plus. Only a true dog lover wants to be around a dirty, stinky dog with bad breath. Proper dog grooming will bring out the best in man’s best friend.

What’s Involved in Dog Grooming?

While dog grooming can be performed at home, the best results can be achieved via a professional dog groomer. A thorough dog grooming session takes care of all the hygienic needs of your dog. The grooming process generally takes a hour or two to accomplish, but the results are well worth the time spent. A typical dog grooming session consists of the following treatments for your dog:

* A thorough bath including flea dip (if applicable)

* A complete coat brushing to eliminate tangles and matted hair

Five Secrets for the Very Best Cat Food
 by: Fred Ege

There is a significant difference between dog and cat food even though their may appear to look the same. Cats need a much higher amount of protein and fat than dogs do. Also, cats have different needs than dogs, so don’t feed your cat dog food, or your dog cat food. Remember, Cats are primarily carnivores and need plenty of meat in their diet. Here is what to look for when you are deciding what to feed your furry friends.

Avoid Cat Food Fillers

Cats need to eat food that is rich in protein, so make sure the amount of fillers is kept to a minimum. Carbohydrate rich food is not good for your cat, so don’t buy cat food that is full of them. Instead, read the labels and buy a cat food that is not filled with fillers and other by products. Even when a cat food is high in protein, it doesn’t mean that the protein comes from a meat source. Avoid those blends which contain a lot of wheat or rice, and look for a meat source as the first ingredient.

Change Your Thinking to Change Your Dog’s Behavior
 by: Fred Ege

Bad Behavior is only a Game.

I recently changed the way I think about training my dog. I have one of those high spirited dominate alpha males who instinctively thinks he is the leader of the pack and is always testing my authority. I often thought, why is he so challenging, he knows he is not supposed to do that because I’ve told him “no” a hundred times. Boomer, my dog, likes to steal things and be chased. To him it’s a game, a fun activity that he knows will get me going. He takes the towels from the hanger in the bathroom and flaunts it in front of me, stopping to make sure I see him before he runs off. I found that if I ignore him, he just lays down and later I can get the towel from him. At first I thought that he just made a mistake, but then I realized its just a game to him. The problem was that he never asked if I wanted to play, he just started a game of keep away. The mistakes my dog makes are neither mistakes nor accidents. I just misunderstood the game, and even though it was fun to him, it wasn’t necessarily fun for me!

PREPAIRING TO BRING YOUR NEW PUPPY HOME

Crates

These come in all sizes, depending on your dogs potential. I would discuss with your local supplier. I would recommend one with a divider so as the dog grows so does the space. This is good if adults are going to use cages as well and maybe to use as a birthing den.

Travel Carrier

Your puppy may arrive in a plastic carrier. They are excellent for travel but NOT recommended for a home crate, For many dogs they are fine, But remember your Labradoodle was cooped up in this for a long time and will not be comfortable to have to live in it as well, Also In my opinion they are too confined and will make your puppy feel banished from the family. The open wire crate will make your puppy feel part of the family while being restrained while you are not able to supervise. The wire crate you will find takes up no more room that a basket and can be dressed up with a see through curtain to blend with the dιcor of your home. They also will fold up for you to take with you when visiting or on vacation.

Here’s A Quick Check for Feline Urinary Tract Infection
 by: Nancy E. Wigal

There’s a couple different ways you can tell if your cat has a Feline Urinary Tract Infection (UTI). The most obvious way is if she cries while urinating, you see blood in her urine, and/or she won’t use the cat litter box to urinate.

If you see this behavior in your cat, please call your vet immediately to get her checked! This is a very painful infection for kitty to suffer through.

But here’s another way you can do a rough estimate check for a feline UTI before your cat feels the pain. Quite simply, you can do a fast check of your cat’s urine pH balance. If it’s out of range, call your vet as fast as you can to schedule an appointment for kitty. She’ll need further examination for an accurate diagnosis.

The benefit of checking your cat’s urine pH level yourself is save you and kitty a lot of grief. It’s easy and safe to do. Your cat won’t be traumatized, and this is another way you can stay on top of her health.

Affenpinscher - The Monkey Dog
 by: Tim Shank

The Affenpinscher is a small 7 to 8 pound dog that usually does not exceed around 10 inches in height. The Affenpinscher has bushy eyebrows and shaggy hair and most often is considered looks somewhat like a monkey. Although this certainly is a dog, you might consider that sometimes it is a monkey by the way that it acts.

Affenpinscher’s look like terriers but they’re actually part of the pinscher-schnauzer subgroup. The common color of an often answer is black, although the AKC will allow them to be other colors such as gray, silver, and a combination of black and tan but Black is always preferred.

Are that they are very playful and lightly they get along generally speaking with other dogs and pads that they can become excitable around small children so they’re not necessarily recommended as a family pet in that way at time off and pictures can be territorial when it comes to their food so you might want to take this into consideration as well that being said often pinscher certainly can be a fun pet to own and can provide hours of entertainment

Obedience Training For Your Dog

Obedience Training For Your Dog
 by: Jack Russell

There are dogs that do not have bad behaviors, and even if their owners are trying hard to tech them to obey some simple commands, these dogs are hardheaded. Chances are, many owners would just dump them to dog pounds because they are already fed up, and could no longer understand the behavior anymore.

These things should have been avoided if obedience training was used and implemented. Mostly obedience training in dogs is used to create a groundwork from which the dog and his master will learn how to effectively correspond to each other.

Moreover, obedience training is also employed by dog owners whose dogs are behaving badly. It is one way of incorporating discipline in the dog’s behavior. This kind of training makes him realize that certain behaviors are not allowed and that he should not act that way.

When obedience training is incorporated to a dog’s behavior, the dog, in turn, will be able to respond properly with the right behavior that is expected of him to manifest.

Weight Problems In Dogs: Is Your Dog Fat?
 by: Jack Russell

People may not be aware of this, but obesity is one of the greatest problems dogs are dealing with these days. Obesity, like humans, is also caused by excessive eating and unhealthy binges. Mostly, this situation is triggered by some environmental factors that when not controlled may just lead to more problems.

Like humans, dogs develop certain diseases too when they are overweight. These diseases will lead to more serious complications including death. So for people who wish to know the repercussions of obesity in dogs, here are some of the known consequences:

1. Arthritis

Obesity in dogs tends to put extra weight on their bones. In turn, the joints and other parts of the dog’s bones develop arthritis.

Excess weight in dogs may also initiate the development of other muscle and joint problems like spinal disc disease, hip dysplasia, and cracks on the joint ligaments.

2. Diabetes

How To Fight Fleas
 by: Jack Russell

The natural way:

• Vacuum your home frequently and seal vacuum bags before disposing.

• Wash the bedding of your dog weekly in warm soapy water. This is where fleas usually breed.

• Bathing your pet weekly with a mild dog shampoo prevents flea invasion.

• Use cedar shampoo for your dog, and put cedar oil in their sleeping mats. Cedar will repel fleas and other insects.

• Fleas are attracted to dry skin, so to avoid it, give your dog Linatone oil mixed with its food. Excessive shampooing should be avoided.

• A mixture of brewer’s yeast and garlic, available in powder or tablet form can be given in small doses to your pet. This creates a certain odor in pets, and fleas are surely to avoid them.

• Fresh or dried pennyroyal leaves is a natural flea repellent. Use this in carpets to avoid the abundance of fleas in the home. Do not use it if you have small children around, as this could be toxic.
